THE STORY OF CHISARA'S GOLD

As a youth, I watched my grandmother using oils and balms as a therapeutic massage. This kept her skin soft while improving her circulation which helped to reduce minor aches and pains. Grandma's balm had a strong medicinal smell so she always used it at night. Now that I'm a mature adult, I want a product: that can be used all day with a pleasant aroma plus cosmetic benefits.

When I traveled to West Africa, I was amazed at the youthful skin and agility of many elder villagers. I wondered about their secret since they did not use many cosmetics, health and beauty aids. When I inquired about their secret for a variety of skin problems from dry skin to minor wounds; over and over again I heard the reply, "Ori" (Karite or Shea butter). Later that year when I returned to the US, an African priest suggested that I use the Ori for an irritation on my face.

At first, I was reluctant to use the strange yellow substance. However, with use, I quickly became convinced of its unique benefits. I wanted a more refined product but was not satisfied with any of the Shea butter products available in the US market. I decided to create my own product using rich, golden, West African shea butter as a base.

A lot of thought went into selecting a name for our product. We considered its rich golden color and how Africans call Shea butter, "women's gold" but we wanted to personalized our special formula. Eventually we decided to use my Igbo name, Chisara (Chee-sa- rah).  It means God's answer to my prayer.

The painting above, which inspired our trademark, was a Mother's Day gift from my daughter, Quest. It depicts an African Woman lifting up her harvest of Karite fruit in thanksgiving to the Creator before "tree the tree" of life which bore it.

I invite you to try Chisara's Gold Balm. Massage it on your skin and enjoy its aroma as it rapidly penetrates the skin and muscle.  Use it alone or with your favorite fragrance! Find out for yourself why many Africans call the Karite (Shea tree) the "Tree of Life"! If you are not satisfied with the results, for any reason, return the product to us immediately, within 15 days for a full refund.
